Board Members

President - John Rodenhausen is an educator and development officer for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation where he has worked for over 10 years. He has conducted trainings for more than 2,000 teachers focusing on restoration and curriculum programming for over 40,000 students across Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia. By using the environment as an integrated context these trainings help students learn the fundamental skills of reading, math, science, history and social studies while having a positive, tangible effect on the environment. John is a Pennsylvania State University graduate and has been a United States Coast Guard licensed captain.

Vice President - Kate Power PhD. is an Assistant Professor of Elementary Education at Towson University. Dr. Power is a Professional Development School coordinator for Towson University in Baltimore City schools, where she facilitates student teaching internships and coaches mentor teachers.

Secretary - Meri Robi-Craven is one of the parent representatives on the board.

Treasurer - Erin (Brough) Gunter graduated from Bloomsburg University where she majored in Political Science and minored in Women’s Studies. She joined Baltimore City Teaching Residency in 2001. She received her Ed.M. from College of Notre Dame of Maryland in 2006. She is a founding teacher of The Green School of Baltimore. This year Erin is teaching reading and writing in third grade and is serving as the school's business manager.

Kelley Gabrys graduated from Marshall University in 1988, having majored in Sports Medicine and Physical Education K - 12. She joined the U.S. Air Force from 1989 - 92, and is a veteran of Desert Storm. Kelley has been teaching Physical Education in Baltimore City since 1994. She has written grants to help improve girls in sports. She is a founding teacher of The Green School of Baltimore.

Lisa Murphy is one of the parent representatives on the board.

Kate Primm founded Experiential Environmental Education, Inc. in 2004 and is the Director of The Green School of Baltimore. She taught Special Education in Baltimore City Public Schools since 1996 and was one of eight model demonstration teachers for Balanced Literacy in BCPSS. She has particular expertise in project-based learning, environmental education, balanced literacy, and team building. While at Morrell Park Elementary/Middle, Kate spearheaded the Bay Schools Project in partnership with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. She has a B.A. in English and a Masters in Social Work from the University of Maryland.

Alec Ross serves as Senior Vice President for Corporate and Business Development and is a co-founder of One Economy, a multi-national nonprofit organization that helps connect low-income communities to the 21st economy through wide-scale broadband deployments, computer acquisition and training programs; and educational online content. One Economy works in more than 30 states, Africa and the Middle East. Under his leadership, Alec has established groundbreaking inter-sectoral programs and corporate partnerships with top-of-market private sector, governmental and nonprofit organizations. Alec is a nationally respected social entrepreneur who speaks regularly on topics including economic development, technology, philanthropy and public policy. He has a B.A. from Northwestern University and taught for two years in Baltimore City Public Schools through Teach for America.

Amy Schumacher is an attorney for the federal government.  Prior to entering law school, Amy taught fourth grade in Baltimore City for three years through Teach for America.
